The Times Magazine recently published an interview with Ryan McGinley on the eve of his newest gallery opening Everyone Knows This is Nowhere at the Team Gallery in New York City. McGinley’s newest portraits continue his fascination with naked youth, but this time with a shift in focus. His new pieces are paired-down black and white studio shots with an even stronger sense of intimacy. Bold tattoos and piercings are set in contrast to imperfect skin and the awkwardness of his subjects, closely examining the marks that form the paradox of youth.
We’re pretty much in love with everything Ryan McGinley does.
